Miles Thompson is a research engineer at the Georgia Tech Research Institute. He wears many hats in the field of applied research, including mechanical engineer, systems engineer, project manager and business developer, depending upon the greatest need. Thompson has worked in industry and government sectors, and he now combines both of these sectors in his current role in academia at Tech.
Thompson's specialties include robotics and unmanned systems research and are specifically tied to the efficient, practical and comprehensive testing of these systems. He has researched the application of design of experiments, random sampling techniques, modeling and simulation and common architectures in order to combine these fields to produce better tools for the testers of today and tomorrow.
In addition to research, Thompson teaches professional education classes on applied design of experiments for test and evaluation.
